The combination of the richness of colors and the atmosphere of the B & W photography, you can create eye-catching artistic effects. And with the history brush in Photoshop CS, it is easy.
I always take my original color images, even if the sole purpose of the assignment is to deliver B & W prints. Why? Because when you take photos in high color resolution, you have a full complement of options later in Photoshop. For example, you can always convert a copy of the photo to B & W, keep the original color intact. Or, as in this hack, you can mix the two formats.
For this task, I want the image to have the artistic sensation of B & W photography. I am also interested in playing with hand-colouring to produce an unusual effect. Taking the original photo color, I can use a little magic of Photoshop to combine these eyes.
For my image source, I chose a photo of night of the Port of San Francisco, as shown in the Figure.
The clock tower dominates the foreground, and you can see the Bay Bridge the distance offshore. Even if I like this photo in color, I see some creative options that may emerge by playing with it a little.

What I have in mind here is Desaturate the entire image, essentially converting a photo B & W I chose to desaturate instead of convert to gray levels, because this way I can keep all information in RGB. This information will provide me access to these channels later, when I'm ready to resume a few colors in the image.
First, convert you the image to B & W applying desaturated Image adjustments. Indeed, you now have a photo B & w. Rectifiez any level you like make pleasant tones to the eye. Now you are ready to begin the hand-colouring.
Choose history from the drop-down window. This opens the History palette, which allows you to keep track of what was going on. Then, in the tools palette, select the
History brush, as shown in the Figure.
Use the history brush to restore color to specific areas of the image
There are several occasions when you can single on a subject of a photograph and create an effect of style of staining skilled using your image editing program. Here I will make a crowded shot, taken through the cage at a zoo and some changes using Photoshop.

Using the history brush again click on by the side of the next State in the History palette that should be listed as Desaturate. This is the stage where the color has been removed to paint with the icon against this point will ensure the desaturation is reduced in the areas of color of overflow. Select one more small history brush and paint on overflow background colors to remove the color.
You could argue that if you did you would have a more precise work in paint colour stage earlier now bother, but I find that this method works very well for me. The best thing to do is to try both and that you would prefer to see.
